San Diego Tour 2025
Hello Parents and Students!
On this page I hope to update you on our upcoming San Diego Tour and Competition. We will also have a parent / student meeting on Wednesday October 29th at 6pm. At this meeting we will go over all aspects of the trip and answer any questions you may have. For the trip we will be taking 78 students, 8 chaperones, 10 instructors, 2 bus drivers and several other parents who will be staying at the same hotel as the band. All of our instructors and chaperones are district approved. Students will be staying in rooms with other students , 4 students per room. Some meals will be provided and other meals students will need to purchase on their own, the meal breakdown is below.

Boosters Provide 2 (Friday pizza dinner and Saturday lunch)
Hotel Breakfasts 2 (Saturday and Sunday Morning at the hotel)
Students buy their own meals 4 Depending on how much your students eat and where they go you can anticipate $10-$25 per meal.

Museums at Balboa Park www.balboapark.org (each group will pick what museum or museums they want to visit)

Friday 10/31/25 Happy Halloween!
7:00am-7:15am
Call time for all students to load up trailers (7:00 am call time for trailer pullers). Students dress comfortably as we will be traveling and on a bus for several hours. Please no halloween costumes until our Halloween events at the hotel.
8:15am Buses arrive, load buses
8:30am Leave OHHS
12:30pm Arrive at San Diego State University
1:30pm-3:00pm College Tour
3:00pm-4:00pm Food at San Diego State
4:00pm-5:30pm Watch San Diego State Marching Band rehearsal
5:30pm Leave San Diego state
6:15pm Arrive at the hotel, unload luggage. We will unload instruments and equipment later in the night. All props can stay on the trailers.
6:15pm-7:00pm Rest time and unpack time
7:00pm-9:30pm Pizza Party and Halloween Festivities!
9:30pm Unload the trailer
10:00pm All students are back in their rooms
10:30pm Room check by Mr. Moreno and Mrs. Bracamontes. After 10 pm, quiet time in rooms. Students must be in their own rooms by the room check. Students may not leave their rooms at night. Students may not visit other rooms.
Saturday 11/1/25
7:30am Wake up, get dressed in warm-ups and red shirts, and eat a continental breakfast at the hotel
9:00am All students begin to load up the trailers with equipment
9:30am Leave the hotel and head to Seaport Village
10:00am Seaport Village - students stay with chaperone groups
12:00pm Meet at designated meeting spot
12:15pm Leave Seaport Village
12:45pm Arrive @ Mira Mesa HS for competition. Unload trailers, use the restroom, have a snack, check out the stadium and watch other groups.
1:20pm Boosters provide lunch (sandwiches?)
2:00pm Get dressed in uniforms
2:30pm Warm up time
4:00pm Oak Hills Performance Time
4:30pm Change out of uniforms. Put on season shirts and warm-ups. Load up trailers with equipment. Please be quick and efficient.
5:30pm Dinner on your own at concessions. Watch other bands perform. While we’re watching, cheer loudly for other groups and be supportive! Students may not leave the campus.
9:00pm Field Show Awards
9:45 pm Leave Mira Mesa HS and head to the hotel
10:15pm Arrive back at the hotel, unload trailers, go to hotel rooms
11:00pm Room check by Mr. Moreno and Mrs. Bracamontes. Quiet time in rooms.
Sunday 11/2/25
7:00am-9:00am Get ready. Pack your things. Please don’t leave your rooms a mess. Continental breakfast at the hotel.
9:00am Load up trailers, suitcases, and bags
10:05am Get on buses and take a roll
10:15am Leave the hotel and head to Balboa Park
11:00am-2:00pm Arrive at Balboa Park and walk around with chaperones. Students can choose and go to various museums. Students get their own lunch. Please note that some museums charge a fee.
2:30pm Leave San Diego and head back to Oak Hills. The ride back will have traffic, so plan on a longer time frame to get back.
3:30pm Restroom and food stop in Temecula at Promenade Temecula Food is on your own.
4:45pm Be back at the busses
7:00pm Return to OHHS. Unload trailers and put away equipment. Students will not be dismissed until everything is unloaded, put away, and we have final announcements. The faster we can put away equipment and clean up , the faster students will be dismissed.
7:30pm-8:00pm Approximate pick up time. This time may be a little earlier or later, depending on traffic. There is usually a lot of traffic on Sundays going from San Diego to the high desert. For the best results in picking up your student, please have them call you when we’re almost back at the school.
