Weekly Rehearsal Schedule
Our normal Fall Schedule looks like this below but times and days are still to be determined. We try to rehearse 2-3 times per week and give students Tuesdays and Thursdays “off” so that they can keep up on academics and do other activities.
Mondays 5:30pm-9:00pm. Parent pick up time will be at approximately 9:20pm. The reason this rehearsal is so late is because it’s in the stadium and our stadium rehearsal time has to be after football practice.
Tuesdays. No after school rehearsals
Wednesdays 2pm-6pm. Sectionals from 2pm-3pm. Full group rehearsal on the field from 3pm-6pm. Students should bring a snack to eat during break time as well as water and rehearsal clothing. The school also offers after school snacks to students free of charge.
Thursdays. No after school rehearsals
Fridays TBA. Some possible Friday rehearsals when we have major performances. There are also 5 home football games and most of them are on Thursdays and Fridays.
*The rehearsal times will vary based on field availability so please check the main calendar (HERE) for changes. Facilities usage for the band is not the best or most consistent, I apologize in advance for changes that might have to be made.
Parent/Student Orientation Meeting
There will be an orientation meeting on Wednesday April 29th fro 6:00pm-7:30pm. All students who plan to be in marching band and a parent are required to attend. During this orientation Mr. Moreno will discuss the program including rehearsal schedules for the summer and fall, competitions, weekly fall rehearsals, our fall overnight trip, spirit packs, what classes to take, and much more. This is an important and informative meeting that sets up students for success for the 26/27 school year. Parents please attend, those who miss this meeting tend to have a lot of questions down the road.
Auditions
Auditions for the marching band will be on Monday May 4 from 5pm-7:30pm and May 5 from 5pm-7:30pm. Audition will be held in the OHHS Band room, room E4, and Performing Arts Center (PAC). The auditions will be for the band, drumline, and color guard. Students are asked to dress in comfortable clothes they can move around in (no jeans). They are also asked to wear athletic shoes. Feel free to bring a water bottle and a snack. We will be looking at attendance, attitude, and talent. Please don’t worry about the auditions, we encourage you to show up and do the best you can and you’ll be fine. We absolutely take beginners who have never done music and/or colorguard before.
Spirit Pack
There is a spirit pack for the marching band program that will be used to offset the cost of the program not covered by the school. The spirit pack pays for show registration fees, travel costs, hotel costs on our overnight stay, music, drill, summer camps, extra instruction, flag silks, props, instrument repair, equipment purchase, and much more.
